Some people are willing to try everything when it comes to losing weight. However, there is no magic that could help you so that is why people are making a lot of mistakes regarding this subject.
Here are the weight loss mistakes you should avoid:
1.A lot of rules
The process of losing weight is hard, even without having strict rules to follow. According to Melissa Rifkin, MS, RD, there is one popular rule not to eat after 7 p.m however that is not good for example if you are working night shifts or if you wake up very early. Instead of this, it is suggested to eat 2-3 hours before going to sleep.
Also, the other rule to avoid everything that contains sugar. This is not correct, you can use natural sources of sugar because your body needs it, for example, prepare yourself banana topped with nut butter and a little dark chocolate.
2. CHEAT DAYS
Usually, there are cheat days in many diets in order to motivate the people, but they can have a reverse effect. They can make you stay off your healthy habits. That is why Rifkin recommends having one cheat meal instead of one whole day.
Another topic here is the consummation of alcohol. People forget that alcohol includes calories. So, that is why it is suggested to lower its consummation on half. If you drink a glass of wine every night, start drinking only 3 days in the week.
3. NOT EATING ENOUGH
A lot of people think that eating little is better. However many people miss their meals because they are too busy. You have to find time for eating, wake up earlier, prepare your meals previously, go to bed later, take care of your health.
This is also suggested from Abbey Sharp, RD, who advises having high protein and nutrient meals.
4. THINKING SHORT-TERM
Many people turn to those quick diets that last only a week. However, those are really bad because people usually gain their weight back. So, instead of trying some diet of this kind, Angie Asche, MS, RD, recommends having a diet regime that includes a lot of fruits and vegetables, proteins and unsaturated fats. You should also consume a lot of water and avoid drinking sodas and alcohol.
5. NOT TRACKING INTAKE
It is a mistake if you do not keep track of the food that you are consuming. It is important to be honest and get the picture of your eating habits, so you can dismiss what is bad for you.
6. OVEREATING HEALTHY FOODS
Some people may think that if they are eating healthy then the calories are not important. For example, you can consume seeds, nuts, and dried fruits because they include minerals and vitamins, but eating too much of then can give you some pounds. That is why it is recommended to measure your portions.
7. FOCUSING ONLY ON WEIGHT
All of us are different so some may lower their pounds slower in comparison to others, so it is a mistake to measure the results by the numbers on the scale. It is a success to cut your meals also, to lower the portions, to avoid snacks, to say no thanks to things and try to have a balanced diet. This all takes a lot of effort, so you have to think positive and keep going.
